About Rakhi
Rakhi is an internationally acclaimed dance artist whose journey flows across continents, styles, and stories. With over a decade of experience in Oriental Bellydance and a growing foundation in Odissi, she brings artistry, emotion, and purpose into every class and performance. Guided by deep respect for all cultures, her mission is to use movement as a language of empowerment, confidence, and self-love. Through RaqsDreams, she creates spaces where every dancer feels seen, supported, and free to express their true self.
Early Life & Journey Into Dance
Born and raised in Patna, Bihar, Rakhi always felt an undeniable pull toward dance. Yet, in a family where academics came before the arts, she could not pursue formal training until much later. After completing her Engineering degree and stepping into professional life, dance returned to her during a difficult period.
A Shakira music video ignited something deep within—a spark that reconnected her to joy and movement. With Bellydance still rare in India, opportunities were limited, but her determination was unwavering.
On 4 November 2012, she attended her very first Bellydance class, a moment that transformed her life. Bellydance became a source of healing and self-love, giving her strength, confidence, and a renewed sense of identity. Despite long commutes and life challenges, she continued her training with devotion.
By 2016, Rakhi committed fully to her artistic growth and began teaching for the first time—a step that would shape her future path.
In 2018, she founded RaqsDreams in Bengaluru, India—a space built from passion, perseverance, and purpose. Since then, she has trained over 500 dancers through in-studio and online programs, nurturing a global community connected through movement.
